Tips for a Successful WSOP
Making it at the WSOP may be a stretch at this point in your poker career, but it doesn’t have to always be that way. A good place to start trying to improve your game is the study of the players around you. You need to be the best player at the table and the best way to do that is to try to get an understanding of how the player across from you plays what cards and in what situations.
Keep a watchful eye on all of the players around you. Study them and always be on the lookout for anything that could tip off what they might be thinking and what could possibly be their next move. After enough study and keeping a close enough eye on the people seated at the table with you it will almost be come instinct to judge what other players are doing or planning to do.
Another helpful hint that is often overlooked is every once in awhile to do not be afraid to call down a hand that you are pretty sure that you have lost. The information that you can take from doing this can be invaluable. This should never be turned into a practice that is used every hand, but it is to important to never be done.
Poker playing should be considered a battle. You aren’t playing poker just to play a game. You are playing poker to make money. You want to be under the radar and not bring any unwanted attention to your game.
When you are playing poker live be on the lookout for players who do nothing but check and call. When you run into these players go against them hard. Attack them and be very aggressive when you are in a pot with them. It is not necessary to have a premium hand. In this case you are playing against the other player more then you are playing the cards in your hand. Do not give this type of player any room to breathe attack him hard even with marginal hands.
By incorporating these tips into your game it should help you to become a more successful poker player. Be patient, study your opponents, and be ready to attack if the situation calls for it. To get to the WSOP one needs to study and become a true student of the game. With some hard work I know that you can get there.
