7 Ways To Cheat At Poker

Published by Simon M Skinner under Poker

by Simon M Skinner

Cheating at poker is almost as old as the game itself. There are very simple ways to cheat at poker and their are also some pretty complex methods to ensure that you win the game. It takes a cheat to know a cheat and this article may help you to spot a cheat and save you some money one day!

1.How the Kids Do It There’s not very much art to the old “peeking” routine, which simply involves the childish player causing a diversion so that he or she can sneak a peek at his opponent’s cards. The advantage here is that it’s hard to prove that a cheater is really peeking on purpose-at least the first time.

2.How the Misers Do It A miser never likes to part with their money. A miser will always try to (subtly) not pay the house feeswhile trying to shortchange the pot. Their are many ways to do this but one of the most common is to ‘palm’ chips. It will appear that you are putting a certain amount on the table but you hide the large chips at the last minute.

3.How Would A Magician Do It? A magician can make cards appear and disappea at will through sleight of hand etc. It would not be hard for a magician to swap a bad hand for a better one that he had hidden elsewhere.

4.How the Shady Dealers Do It The shady dealers know how to cull their favorite cards, and place the most desirable cards at the bottom, the second to bottom, the middle or the second to top card position. They may also use their index finger to peek at the cards before dealing. Notice how closely everyone eyes a self-appointed dealer as he deals out hands.

5.How the Manipulative Dealers Do It There are crooked dealers and then there are ingeniously crooked dealers. Any good cheat cannot be seen to be getting winning hands every game, but by ensuring another player gets an artificially strong hand they can keep the pot boiling and raise their winnings.

6.How the Card Makers Do It Cheating my bringing your own deck to the table is a bit of a low blow. You can set up the cards so that (say) every 4th card when dealt to you will give you a winning hand. Or you could bring a deck of marked cards with you. (Common markings include a scratch, a circle or a sun discoloration)

7.How the Team Mates Do It Collusion is a great way to ensure that you win at poker. By working with a team mate, you can raise and re-raise the pot, drawing other players into the game to encourage them to bet more. Also you can use subtle and strategic signalling to assist each other
